Q. Why should I use Findafishingboat to sell my boat
Q. How do I place a boat advert and add my pictures?
A. Click on “Place Ad”. Fill in details if a box has * it is a mandatory field and must be filled in. Once details have been entered you can submit your card details for payment. You then select up to 7 photos by “Browsing” your PC and adding pics one by one. Boat adverts cost £24.95 plus VAT for six months.
Q. Why won’t my pictures load?
A. This is usually because the files are too big and the system times out before they are loaded. If you have problems transferring image files you can email your pics to us. Please include ID number of advert in subject of email.
Q. Can I use printed photos?
A. You can post your photos to Findafishingboat, Tigh an Uillt, Strontian, Argyll, PH36 4HY with name and ID number of your advert. They will be added asap and will be returned to sender.
Q. Why do I get a message saying “Transaction Error” when I try to place my ad?
A. This is usually due to your email address being mistyped. e.g. leaving a space or missing out a letter. A valid email address must be entered. Please phone us on 01967402147 if you continue to have a problem placing your advert.
Q. I do not want to place my advert over the internet. Can I send all the details and photographs in the post?
A. Yes. Posted adverts cost £30.00 INCLUDING VAT and will be placed asap. Post all details to Findafishingboat, Tigh an Uillt, Strontian, Argyll, PH36 4HY and include payment of £30.00. Cheques should be payable to D. Cochrane. Please note you can also place an advert online and choose pay by cheque option . Place the advert choose pay by cheque ,you will get an activation ref no pass this on to us write the number on the back of the cheque we will activate your advert
Q. Can I make any changes to my advert once it is on the website?
A. Adverts can be amended by clicking on “Edit ad”. Enter the advert ID number (e.g. 15621) and your password. Details and price can be amended as often as required.
Q. I have sold my boat. How do I mark it “Sold”
A. Click on “Edit ad”. Enter ID and password and select “Sold” option. It is sensible to wait until the deal has been completed before marking your vessel as sold. Your contact details will be removed from your advert once your boat is sold.
Q. My advert has run out and my boat has not sold. Can I renew my advert?
A. It costs £9.95(+VAT) to renew your advert for another 6 months. Do this by clicking on “Edit ad” and enter ID and password . Select “Readvertise” and enter card details. Your boat will go back to the top of the list until sold or for another months.
Q. I want to sell some fishing equipment, how do I go about it?
A. Click on “Place Ad” and select most suitable category. Fill in details and browse your PC to add picture. Classified ads include 1 photo and are online for 8 weeks. All classified ads cost £9.95 (+ VAT).
Q. My boat was on the website last year. Do I have to create a new advert?
A. If your boat has previously been advertised on FAFB please get in touch as we can usually retrieve the details.
Q. How can I recognise a genuine buyer?
A. A genuine buyer...
- will usually want to talk to you on the phone.
- will usually want to view the boat or item himself or send a surveyor to view the boat on his behalf.
- will never send you more money than you ask for.
