PROVISIONAL PARTICULARS
“ AFTERSHOCK”
12.6m Rigid Inflatable Boat
Designers Note: Global Marine Design was approached by Richard Gilpin of
Jersey, Channel Islands, early in 2006 to develop him a world beating RIB.
Richard has a lot of experience with RIBs and felt that there was something
lacking in the performance of many of the current brand name RIBs. His design
criterion was to achieve 40 knots continuous in 2.5m seas in the often confused
seas of the Channel Islands area.
We set about combining our stunning AIR RIDER hull form with inflatable RIB
collars, sleeping accommodation for four adults, with day galley and good sized
head under a flat load carrying foredeck. The result has been this amazing new
vessel fitted with the latest offering from SUZUKI, who has worked closely with
Richard on this custom configuration.

Additional
Information
Richard has done a stunning job in co-ordinating this whole build project on a
“no expense spared” basis. Richard employed a skilled team for the Aluminium
work, then a whole range of specialists for the remainder of the fit out and
engineering.
The key to the vessel's performance, aside from the AIR RIDER hull, is the fact
that it has been fitted with 'Jacking Plates' which allow the motors to be raised
dynamically. Coupled to this is the fitting of specialist semi surface piercing
propellers and low water engine cooling pick up which allow the engines to be
run at increased height, without being prone to cavitation of the propellers.
Vessel
Application
Although this was built as a private vessel to allow high speed transits from
Jersey in the Channel Islands, across to France or England, it is well suited for
Luxury Tender and Patrol applications.
