Identify Picture
Do you know anything about this boat "Ocean Bride", or any of the people in the picture?

Recently FAFB was sent this picture of the Boat Ocean Bride BA122 and asked if we or our users had any information about the boat or any of the people in the photograph.

We can't really help, but guess that the boat was registered in Ballantrae and that it's possibly a dipping lug sail herring drifter.

If you happen to have any information that you would like to share about the boat, its history, the location of this picture, an estimate of the date, or any of the people in the picture,

please send it to [email protected].

Please indicate if you are happy to have the information shared or published in this article.

Responses

FAFB is already getting some response to this picture query.

So we are going to publish the responses for now without any details of the emailers which have not yet been confirmed as to be included.

  • There's a double ender in Girvan named Ocean Bride just ashore in shed Nobles Boatyard Girvan. Boat is of that era - guys in Nobles could tell you more.

  • I saw your request for info on the Ocean Bride. She was a 14.5 rt sail boat owned by T McCrindle of Maidens in 1922. Your speculation about her design and rig is probably accurate. She was probably similar to a Loch Fyne skiff.

“Hi Dave, not very good at this stuff but I can confirm the gentleman in the picture was my Grandfather and owner of the Ocean Bride Matthew McCrindle”. Also, Ocean Bride fished out of Maidens, launched around 1922.
