Vessel was constructed by Blyth Works Limited 1996 to their blyth cat 33 design. The hull of the. Essex is of Glass Reinforced Plastic with a catamaran round bilge with rake form stems. The main deck is painted with non slip finish.below deck sub decided into 3 compartments, above deck large cockpit and work area.
The main engines were replaced in 2011 with a pair of reconditioned engines supplied and fitted by Freedom Marine.

In order to be in compliance with the power rating for this size of vessel the engine output has been de-rated in accordance with the MCA regulations.
Maximum permitted 150kw of two engines.
