Designed for commercial operation the engines are mounted forward of main wheelhouse bulkhead. During the 2012 refit the engine box was re-manufactured with new sound insulation installed. The box dismantles to allow full access around both engines.

An eye-pleasing traditionally built, Larch on Oak launch from the revered Curtis and Pape yard. Extensively refitted in 2012/13, including:
Full hull re-caulking.
Sister frames fitted in way of working deck.
New mahogany transom.
Full re-wiring.
Originally built as an inshore creel boat she benefits from a large open aft cockpit with bench seating. The forward wheelhouse spans the full width of the hull with seating for a helmsman and crew. The engines are forward of the main bulkhead with bench seating in the focsole beyond.
Lying ashore in her own DanCover tent she is available for viewing by appointment in North Argyll.
CONSTRUCTION
Originally built for commercial operation as an inshore creel boat SARA HOPE III is constructed with an open deck aft, wheelhouse and engine all being located forward.
Carvel constructed hull.
Larch planking on Oak frames.
Mahogany top strake and toerail.
Plywood foredeck, sheathed in glass.
Hull finished in single pack white gloss.
Decks finished in ivory non-slip deck paint.
Topstrake, toerail, superstructure and trims varnished.
SUMMARY OF 2012/13 REFIT
Hull planking and structural timbers strip of paint.
Hull seams re-caulked above and below waterline.
Sister timbers fitted in way of cracked and damaged timbers around working deck aft.
New mahogany transom made and fitted
New plywood aft deck fitted and sheathed with GRP
New tabernacle fabricated and fitted.
Wheelhouse dismantled.
Foredeck stripped.
Sections of foredeck re-planked before being sheathed with GRP
Wheelhouse rebuilt - new opening window forward, new bulkhead, new sides and roof. New mahogany doors.
New engine box fabricated.
New battery boxes fabricated.
Mast and boom stripped and re-varnished.

MIZZEN STEADYING SAIL
Built for commercial use originally the boat is rigged with a mizzen steadying sail.
Single spruce mast with a fixed boom.
Mast tabernacle offset to port.
Standing rigging of 7x7 stainless steel wire, tensioned with lashings.
Loose footed mizzen sail, canvas, lightly used.
The mast can be easily stepped or unstepped by hand.
