Black Gold is planked in larch on a sturdy oak centre line with steamed oak frames and larch stringers with a one inch thick top plank with copper and bronze fastenings throughout and is fully decked on strong oak beams. The deck hatches are fitted with varnished larch boards which are cambered to run off the water and have close fitting tarpaulin covers on both. The mast is a solid spruce pole and the traditional dipping lug sail was made by North Sea Sails in Essex and there is a spare sail made by Leitch of Tarbert. Black Gold is as seen in 2019 September issue of Practical Boat Owner. This boat took part in the Moray Flotilla in 2007. Winner of the Christine Thain Memorial Trophy at the 2008 at the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival at Portsoy. Voted best boat by the lock keepers on 2014 Sail Caledonia. This boat has attended every Scottish Traditional Boat Festival in Portsoy since being built in 2000 and has also attended several Wick harbour fests and visited most of the Moray Firth Harbours and is a very able sea going boat. She has a drying berth for viewing and will be sold as seen, she will be out of the water in October if price not met.
