Additional Information:
A brand new, small Catamaran design that can be operated with the absolute minimum fuel cost, and I mean very low cost. You can save the whole cost of this boat in 800 hours !!
This new design, by Rod Baker, maybe the smallest displacement catamaran in the country and will give smooth, fast and very economical service with just two 40hp outboard engines.
The boat is just under 20ft in length and 9 ft beam.
The basic model will have an open back wheelhouse, as shown in the pictures with a control console just behind. Also there will be a fully enclosed wheelhouse version.
We call this type of craft our High Performance Displacement Catamaran, or HPDC.
This basically means that the hulls are so slender they will run through the water so very efficiently. The Cat will never have to haul itself up onto a planning attitude.
Getting onto the plane is the point that consumes huge amounts of fuel in a normal planning craft, and as you will all know, to run these craft at just below the planing speed is financial disaster. Planing boats can be extremely efficient in their own right, but usually this efficiency is at very high speeds, something approaching 40 knots, unattainable for normal, every day working, and certainly out of the question if the water is not dead calm.
The standard catamaran will have an aft cockpit of 7.5 sq meters, (about 10ft in length and well over 8 ft wide). and up to 11.5 sq m
Quite large enough for comfortable operation of a small boat.
The cat is very multi-purpose and could be put to almost any sort of task.
Harbour launch, angling boat, dive boat, small ferry, small survey boat, the list is vast. We have some special features for survey boat transducers.
We can build in, many features that will certainly be useful, such as a flip down diving or rescue ladder in the transom.
The under hulls have a very streamlined keel section and this will protect the prop and leg whilst the outboards can remain in the down position while beaching or launching.
Engines are electric start, with tilt and trim as an option. Very high quality batteries, and steering is by Hand Hydraulic to provide a smooth and responsive feel. The Boat also comes complete with stainless cleats and anchor roller which will normally be offset to starboard so that recovery can be completed from the main cockpit if required.
The forward walkway around the wheelhouse has been built very much wider than normal to ensure that your safety is about as good as you will get on a boat of this size.
Stainless steel safety rails are fitted around the wheelhouse to the foredeck as a pilot rail style, where you walk outside the rail and have easy access to disembark.
Also still building the most fuel efficient commercial cats in Europe
