Fire extinguishers:
1 x 2 Kg powder fire extinguisher located within the engine bay.
1 x 1 Kg powder fire extinguisher fitted within the wheel house.
1 x Fire blanket located at the galley.
A gas alarm is fitted at the galley is fitted within the main cabin.
An exhaust temperature gauge is fitted at the helm.

Four life belt “rings” are mounted on the coach roof external surface within a stainless-steel gantry.
A fixed transom ladder is fitted.

There is a dedicated and drained gas locker located on the port bulkhead of the cockpit.
The gas locker houses two 4.5Kg “Calor Gas” gas bottles.

Plenty of seating which can be used as two beds.

The following is an extract from a recent independent survey:
“Boy David” is fitted with a single Ford “Sabre” 300 turbo diesel engine.
The drive train is via a traditional marine gear box and prop shaft to a four bladed propeller.
Access to the engine is good, via a large lift up engine compartment hatch.
The engine oil was dipped and was seen to be to level with no signs of water ingress.
Engine bay wiring is in good condition.
All engine pipe work is in good condition with significant use of armoured hoses.
The engine mounts were inspected and showed no evidence of significant corrosion,
The gearbox and prop shaft are in good condition, with no evidence of significant corrosion.

The deck was inspected, it has a painted non-slip surface to the deck area and in good condition.
The deck levels were checked and were all in good condition, random hammer sounds were made,
and no depressions or voids were detected where tested.
There is a stainless-steel pulpit and deck surround, this is in good condition and well secured and no
evidence of stress crazing at the deck connection.
There are further handrails at the cockpit, these are in good condition and well attached.
A “grapple” style anchor mounted at the bow attached to an unmeasured length of chain and
controlled by a large deck winch set within the starboard cockpit coaming.
A second plough style of anchor was also seen on board.
There are fore, aft and amidships cleats all are well secured.

The Hull
“Boy David” has a semi displacement hull with a long keel.
The hull has been recently repainted with an antifoul coating, so patches were not removed to
inspect the gelcoat.
Random areas of the hull were checked with a Sovereign Moisture Meter and there are no issues. Where inspected no significant blistering was seen on the hull.
The area around the bow and along the chine were inspected and no stress crazing was seen.

Drive train

The drive train is via a Ford diesel inboard engine coupled to a traditional marine gearbox and prop
shaft to a 4 bladed propeller.
The propeller was tap sounded and was found to be sound. The cutlass bearing was checked, and no significant wear was seen.
The trim tabs were inspected and though not operated, are well attached and in fair condition.

Rudder

There is a single rudder supported by a skeg, the rudder is in good condition with no significant lateral movement. The rudder operated to its full extent and is well attached.

Anode

A new hull anode has recently been fitted.

I’ve owned and maintained Boy David for over 20 years and ensured the best parts and consumables have been used especially as it has been used for use with my family and friends.
