Other information:
The Treeve 16 is a modern development of the traditional Cornish cove fishing boat. GypSea was first launched in 2009, the hull having been laid down several years earlier and gradually fitted out to a very high standard with varnished hardwood gun-whales, bow, transom & tiller. Whilst retaining her
characteristics as a safe, practical, sea-fishing boat, she has been modified to serve as a very comfortable day/picnic boat - ideal for family outings around the coast or in river estuaries. Her adaptable hood, professionally fitted last year, folds forward onto the bow to create an open boat. Erected it provides a spacious, weather-proof, cuddy enclosure for 5 people. The sides, front and back can be easily removed leaving a Bimini-style canopy. She will comfortably seat a total of 7 with three bench seats (one folding at stern) & one seat in the centre, all with removable, matching seat cushions. At the bow is an anchor locker and at the stern and sides are three storage lockers. She comes fitted with a 20HP Yanmar Diesel re-conditioned engine with less than 100 hours usage. A new starter motor & automatic bilge pump were fitted last year. The engine will be serviced & fully inspected by Cellar Marine, Cornwall's main dealer for Yanmar inboard engines, before delivery. A fitted rear cover provides full weather protection. A spare set of covers is also included for winter storage. Trailer supplied, which is in excellent condition, but its suitability for road use in conjunction with a boat must always be checked including the towing capacity of any car.

Although a compact 16ft in length, it has the strength and carrying capacity of a normal 17 or 18 foot boat. Whilst originally designed as a heavy-duty, commercial fishing boat, the Treeve 16 qualities of stability and seaworthiness have lead to its increasing popularity as a versatile, multi-purpose boat combining the functionality of a safe, family picnic/day boat with the practicality of a traditional Cornish cove/fishing boat - the best of both worlds!

It's design as a commercial, seaworthy, fishing vessel means it has been built to very demanding specifications that exceed those laid down in the Lloyds recommendations and are almost double that of EU requirements. The Treeve 16 has a long-proven track record of hard work and safety in the heavy seas of the South West coast. For example, conditions could not be tougher than at Penberth Cove near Lands End, Cornwall. Strong seas, hard work and the need to be winched up and down the granite slipway every day in all weathers make terrifying demands on any boat. At Penberth the vast majority of fishermen put their trust in the Treeve Cove Boat.
In order to protect the boat from abrasion by gravel & stone rocks when beaching, the Treeve 16 has a number of special adaptations. A pair of heavy duty bilge keels is fitted to keep the boat upright when beaching. These are protected by a set of galvanised irons, through-bolted with internal lugs. The sterngear and rudder are completely protected from impact and abrasion by heavy-duty, galvanised iron, skeg and rudder shoes.
