Additional Information:
Severn Clipper is one of only twelve 32 ft trawler yachts based on the legendary fishing hull designed by Gary Mitchell. The hull was moulded by Cygnus Marine to Seafish standards and built by Bryce Waterhouse in 1980. She is of heavy displacement (11 tons), powered by twin Thornycroft 154 60 hp engines (only 2000 hrs) and cruises very economically at 7.5 Knots with a maximum speed of approximately 9 Knots. The vessel was built using high quality, substantial materials, that were built to last throughout . The interior of teak and iroko gives a traditional timeless quality full of character.
With only one previous owner she has been very well maintained and loved. Severn Clipper has voyaged across the Channel and down the inland waterways of France to the Med for family holidays. Since then we have owned her for 17 years as a liveaboard and have enjoyed using her for fishing, diving, family days out and longer holiday cruises. She is a fantastic boat, extremely safe and solid at sea as would be expected from the hull's pedigree as a commercial fishing boat. She is bursting with character, easy to take out to sea and have fun on!
Severn Clipper is easy for the average owner to maintain with functional, simple systems and is also very economic (both in terms of diesel and spares). This is the ideal boat for anyone who wants to own a boat on a budget as it is a tardis inside and can accommodate a surprisingly large number of people when parties are required! There is also no need to worry about the weight of anything that you want to put on it, as the heavy displacement design and generous 12 ft beam means that this hull will take a lot of weight. Twin engines not only give peace of mind when cruising far away from shore , but also make even a novice look like an old sea dog when manoeuvring in the marina. For anyone who wants to travel on inland waterways this also has the advantage of not only being able to get there in safety, but, because it has a relatively deep keel, the propellers are well protected should the water not be as deep as expected. She is a capable distance cruising vessel with a range of at least 500 nautical miles.
Over many years we have had an unbelievable blast on this boat and hope she goes to a great home! For more information and photographs visit www.severnclipper.co.uk
