Additional Information:

The ubiquitous Westerley CENTAUR from the drawing board of designer Laurent Giles - responsible for many of the Westerley range in the '70's & 80's - is the perhaps the most well-known and enjoyed. In excess of 2,500 were built and continue to offer that essential balance of accommodation with a spritely performance. This craft has the 'A' layout with a practical galley to Stbd, seating and table to Port and an enclosed 'Heads' compartment. The engine was replaced, in 2004 with the equally respected BETA 20hp diesel. This craft - looking good for her age -is lying ashore, close to the Broker.

Accommodation:

From FORWARD: FORE CABIN has two single berths in V-form, each with a mattress and stowage spaces under. It is possible to create a double berth by insertion of V-formed purpose-made panel and mattress element. (It is understood these are not currently provided). A hatch is fitted in the deck-head for additional light, ventilation and emergency escape. Aft to Port is the HEADS COMPARTMENT (solid door closure) with Jabsco manually operated toilet unit, small hand -basin and cold-water feed from the water tank. A useful small fixed cupboard unit is included. Opposite the HEADS is an open-fronted hanging space. Moving aft - with closing solid door - is the MAIN CABIN. To Port are two fully upholstered double seats, with purpose-made cushions, facing each other. The table between can be lowered to create a 'double berth'. An insulated 'cold-box' is located under the forward bench seats. Opposite (to Stbd) is t he GALLEY with a fully moulded 'GRP' unit comprising a work-top with stowage spaces under. An integrated sink unit - with cold water feed with filter, from the craft's built-in water tank of 17 glns/64 ltrs. A Flavel Vanessa gimballed gas stove has two top burners, an oven and grill. The gas bottle is secured in the transom stowage spaces of the Cockpit, with manual closing/opening valve and 'over board' discharge. Sections of the 'sole' (floor), throughout the accommodation, lift to provide access to the bilges. Useful for stowage and inspection of bilge keel fittings. Further aft - running under the Cockpit seating - are single quarter berths to Port & Stbd -again with purpose-made cushions which match those in the Main Cabin seating. Within the cabin and immediately under the windows are 'sliding fronts' fitted to the under-sidedeck stowage spaces. This construction and lay-out is repeated to Starboard. The Main Cabin also enjoys a number of glazed 'ports' fitted to P & S, and curtains (new in 2000). The upholstery of cushions and back fittings were also re-newed at the same time. Headroom in the Main Cabin is 1.85m (approx 6ft). The table can be moved to the Cockpit for 'al fresco dining'. The Cabin-to-Cockpit door is made in two parts. The upper section has the alternative of a solid door section or a transparent Perspex section - both included. On the centre line aft are the steps from/to the Cockpit. The construction of the steps allows them (in one piece) to be removed to access the front-end of the engine. Access to the gearbox and other 'stern-end' units is reached by removal of the grating and hatch in the sole of the Cockpit. A blue canopy over the entry/exit is fitted, with supporting frame, allowing either folded forward for clear visibility from the helm, or raised to 'protect' the entry/exit from rain, wind etc.
