For the past eight years I have been refitting and converting this 1964 BIM (Irish Fishing Board-Bord Iascaigh Mhara) trawler. She was built in 1964 in the Dingle BIM yard.
I replanked 50% of the Larch on Oak hull, as well as replacing 80 Oak stansion posts for the bulwarks. I designed a steel super structure which supports the wheel house and allows comfortable passage below deck. She is built to comfortably sleep 12, in five cabins. Her wheel house is a large galley, and Dinette area as well as the pilot station.
She is fitted with a full Garmin suite, including forward facing sonar, 12" touch screen chart plotter, AIS A & B, VHF, wireless wind, and uninstalled radar unit.
The engine is a very reliable Gardner 6LXB, renewed in the fishing and bus industry as indestructible.
She is unfinished, but not far off and would make a very sound and comfortable live aboard.
-Large pilot house with Galley, dinette and pilot station, two sliding doors (aft and beside steering) -4 cabins: Double master cabin with en suite at bow, two double midships cabins, on large five bunk cabin (3 single one double) aft. -2 heads with showers (one in master cabin, one midships) -large engine room and workshop with workbench and spares -ample storage for long voyages/live aboard under all berths as well as separate paint and equipment lockers throughout.
Galley: gimballed three ring cooker with full oven, large fridge with front access and counter access, double sink.
two fresh water tanks; one 170 lt tank, one 110 ltr tank.
Two 500 lt Diesel tanks custom built by Mooney Boats in Killybegs, Donegal.
Presently, I have rigged her with a 45' mast which includes a mainsail and two foresails. I had intended to mount a mizzen on her as well, but have not completed this project and will leave it to the new owner, should they wish.
