CLASSIFICATION: JUNIOR DECK HAND

REPORTING TO: BOAT MASTER

JOB FUNCTION: TO TRAIN TO ENSURE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS AT ALL TIMES, TO TRAIN TO CLEAN AND PREPARE VESSEL FOR SAIL, TO TRAIN TO ENSURE THE WELFARE IS PASSENGERS IS MET AT ALL TIMES

Crew Trainee

Working days: 7 days on 7 days off

Must be able to reside on Rathlin Island when on duty

Principal Responsibilities:

· To follow compliance with the requirements of the Company Management System (Including the ISM Code)

· Work as part of a team, to participate in drills and familiarise with life saving apparatus and life saving equipment, to assist with office admin duties as and when required

· To assist to prepare and clean boats each day

· To train to give safety announcements - commentaries over PA system

· To provide information for the passengers in a professional, polite & helpful manner, to provide an excellent customer care

· To assist ensuring that the highest level of customer care is shown at all times to ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all passengers

· To assist with maintenance as defined in the vessel Planned Maintenance System

· To train accurately count & record passengers boarding the vessel

· To train to be able to follow the Boat Crew and Skippers orders in performing crew duties in emergencies and in maintaining the safety of the vessel

· To train & assist to secure boats to Quayside & Gangways using ropes

· Must be able to meet requirement to work unsocial hours and provide on-call cover

· Relevant training courses can be undertaken, the company will provide where necessary

Requirements/Qualifications

· Experience interacting with customers & must be in good health

· Must be resident on Rathlin Island during 7 days on (Company can assist with this if needed)

Experience/Knowledge
Desirable:

· Hold in date, stamped STCW/RYA certificates

· Experience working on a passenger vessel

· Valid, stamped ENG1 required before starting
