Razorbill Swivel Gear
The Razorbill Swivel Gear was developed especially for use with electric jigging machines.
This gear has proved to be very effective and has quickly become popular through word of mouth between fishermen; particularly those around Shetland, the West Coast of Ireland and also closer to home in West Cornwall. For most that try these traces they quickly become their go-to choice.
The main advantages of this gear is the extended working life compared to traditional traces tied with loops or snoods, so although each set may cost a bit more it can be expected to last much longer, so long term this gear type works out to be much more cost effective.
All the hooks are free hanging and fully articulated so they catch fish very well but they also file through rollers and stripping bars much easier with fewer catch ups.
The design of the Razorbill hooks mean they remain sharp after repeated contact with the rollers, line guides and stripping bars.
There are three line strength options and two hook size options available.
(Size 8 is larger. Similar to mustad size 16. Size 9 is smaller similar to mustad size 17)
Type-A – 1.6mm / 112kg Monofilament with Size 8 Razorbill hooks
Available in sets of 35 and 40 hooks
Type-B – 1.4mm / 92kg Monofilament with Size 8 Razorbill hooks.
Available in sets of 30, 35 and 40 hooks
Type-C – 1.4mm / 92kg Monofilament with Size 9 Razorbill hooks.
Available in sets of 30, 35 and 40 hooks
Type-D – 1.2mm / 75kg Monofilament with Size 8 Razorbill hooks.
Available in sets of 25 and 30 hooks
Type-E – 1.2mm / 75kg Monofilament with Size 9 Razorbill hooks.
Available in sets of 25 and 30 hooks
Type-F – 1.0mm / 55kg Monofilament with Size 9 Razorbill hooks. (These sets are made for handline fishing but can be used on an ultra light BJ5000 EX set up)
