Sidney Bates was commissioned for Southend Borough Council in 1988 for £83,000 for use as a patrol boat. During its time with the council it was serviced by Volv Spec of Tollesbury until taken out of the water in December 2005 and decommissioned. It was stored in the pier garage until July 2013 when it was purchased by the current owner and recommissioned and moved to Southwold for use as a recreational fishing boat. The boat is built to very high specification and has a full service history and operations manual.

Spec includes Ultraflex steering system, Newage PRM 402 marine gearbox, 18 x 16 Phosphor Bronze propeller, Morse throttle and drive control and 2 x 135amp engine and auxiliary batteries with splitter charger. Pilot mini gas alarm, 2 ring hob and oven, stainless sink and pump, electric Jabsco toilet, mechanical and electrical bilge pumps, cabin lights, dual windscreen wipers, navigation lights, Eberspatcher heating system (currently not working), life raft, anchor, warp and stainless chain, Alderney ring and buoy. 2 full length berths, fixed trim tabs, self draining deck, engine automatic fire extinguisher, 2 removable seats and covers. Maximum speed 19 knots, cruise 16 knots. Deck wash, 25 gallon stainless tank.

Sidney Bates is a high specification, solid boat. Jointly owned one partner is retiring and wishes to relinquish his stake in the partnership hence the need to sell.
