Project Boat for Sale: 1973 Sir John Raster – Restoration Project Opportunity We are offering for sale the Sir John Raster, a distinguished 50-foot patrol craft originally commissioned in 1973 by the Berthon Boat Company of Lymington. Formerly serving as an East Coast Fisheries vessel, she represents a rare opportunity for maritime enthusiasts or professional restorers to complete a high-potential rebuild. This vessel suffered storm damage to the hull under the starboard engine. The hull was breached but the vessel did not sink. Vessel Specifications & Condition Construction: Iroko planking on Oak frames, built using Carvel Diagonal technique // Superstructure: Aluminium, with minor damage to the coach roof // Hull & Bilge: has been professionally restored to a very high standard by a professional boat builder; CAS-covered below the waterline from new. Engines: Twin Rolls Royce C6M310 diesel engines removed for hull repairs; require servicing prior to reinstallation but are working. // Fuel tanks removed // Generator remains in place and will run mechanically // Rudders and propellers required to complete running gear // New rudder shafts installed // Shafts are in place. Project Status, This vessel is being sold as an ongoing restoration project due to the owner’s retirement. She offers substantial scope for conversion, recommissioning, or custom refit — ideal for someone seeking a rewarding and character-rich rebuild.
